Genuine new Bosch 0445118035 CRI3-22 piezo common rail fuel injector (BMW OE 13 53 8 508 153 and 13 53 8 508 154) for the tri-turbo BMW N57 D30C 3.0L diesel engine fitted to the M550d, 750d, 750 Ld, X5 M50d and X6 M50d. Supplied new in the original sealed Bosch box, made in Germany and covered by a 1-year manufacturer warranty.

This is a third-generation Bosch piezo injector: a piezo stack replaces the solenoid actuator, opening the servo valve fast enough to deliver several pilot, main and post-injection events per combustion cycle. That is what allows the 280 kW tri-turbo N57 to combine its power output with smooth running and emissions compliance, so injector condition has a direct effect on idle quality, power delivery and smoke.

Also known internationally as: Common Rail Piezo Injector (EN), Common-Rail-Piezo-Injektor / Piezo-Einspritzduse (DE), injecteur piezo Common Rail (FR), iniettore piezoelettrico Common Rail (IT), inyector piezoelectrico Common Rail (ES), injector piezo Common Rail (RO) - Bosch 0445118035 for BMW N57 D30C.

Tri-turbo engine only. The N57 D30C is the three-turbocharger 280 kW version of the BMW 3.0L six-cylinder diesel, used exclusively on the M performance diesel models listed above. The standard single-turbo and twin-turbo N57 engines (for example 530d, 730d, X5 30d and X5 40d) use a different Bosch injector, which is not interchangeable with 0445118035. Identify the injector by the number marked on the unit you are removing, not by the vehicle model.

Manufacturers used different component variants depending on engine build, model, power output, emission standard and production date, so a number other than the one listed above may be the correct one for your engine. Identify each related component by the number marked on the part actually fitted to the vehicle, not by the vehicle model.

Compatibility Note

Please verify your original Bosch number, BMW OE reference, VIN or the number marked on the injector before purchase. Do not install the part before checking compatibility. Installed or used fuel system parts may not be eligible for return.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question Answer
How do I know Bosch 0445118035 fits my BMW? Read the number laser-marked on the injector currently fitted to the engine. It will show either the Bosch number 0445118035 or 0445118001, or the BMW number in short form such as 8508153. If it matches, this injector is the correct part. Checking the model and year alone is not sufficient.
Is this injector new or a remanufactured exchange unit? It is new, genuine Bosch, supplied in the original sealed Bosch box, and covered by a 1-year manufacturer warranty. No old unit has to be returned.
Is Bosch 0445118001 the same injector as 0445118035? Yes. They are the same injector under two Bosch numbers: 0445118001 is the original-equipment (factory-fit) number and 0445118035 is the Bosch order number under which the part is supplied as a service component. The injector supplied here carries 0445118035 on the box.
My BMW part number is 13538508153 or 8508153. Is this the right injector? Yes. BMW used several numbers across the production run of the N57 D30C engine, and 13 53 8 503 153, 13 53 8 508 153 and 13 53 8 508 154 all correspond to this Bosch injector. The short form marked on the injector body omits the leading 1353.
Does the injector have to be coded after fitting? Yes. Each injector carries an individual IMA (IQA) calibration code that describes its exact actuation timing and injected fuel quantity. That code must be written into the ECU against the cylinder the injector is installed on, using BMW-compatible diagnostic equipment. If it is not coded, the engine can run rough, smoke or set injector-related diagnostic trouble codes even though the injector itself is good.
How many injectors do I need for one engine? The N57 D30C is a six-cylinder engine, so a complete set is six injectors. This listing is for one piece.
Does this injector fit a BMW 530d, 730d, X5 30d or X5 40d? No. Those models use single-turbo or twin-turbo versions of the N57 engine with a different Bosch injector, which is not interchangeable. 0445118035 is specific to the three-turbocharger 280 kW N57 D30C fitted to the M550d, 750d, 750 Ld, X5 M50d and X6 M50d.
What does CRI3-22 mean? CRI stands for Common Rail Injector and the 3 identifies the third Bosch generation, which uses a piezo actuator instead of a solenoid. The piezo stack switches the servo valve faster and more repeatably, allowing several injection events per combustion cycle.
What is included in the package? One Bosch 0445118035 injector in the original Bosch box, together with the nozzle sealing washer and the leak-off return O-ring.
Should the old sealing washer be reused? No. The nozzle sealing washer supplied with the injector should be fitted and the old one discarded. A reused or deformed washer is a common cause of combustion gas leakage past the injector and of carbon build-up in the injector bore.
Can a failed high-pressure pump damage new injectors? Yes. If the CP4 pump on this engine has failed internally it releases metallic debris through the whole fuel system. Fitting new injectors into a system that still contains that contamination is the most common cause of an immediate repeat failure.
Do you ship worldwide? Yes, we ship worldwide.

Diagnostic Information

Common Symptoms of a Failing Piezo Injector on the N57 D30C

On the tri-turbo N57 D30C, a worn or leaking piezo injector typically shows as a rough or shaking idle when cold, a knocking or nailing noise from one bank, extended cranking, reduced power with the engine going into reduced-power mode, black or blue smoke under load, higher fuel consumption, and cylinder-specific injector or rail-pressure diagnostic trouble codes. Excessive internal leak-off from one injector can also pull rail pressure down and cause a hot-start problem.

A professional fuel-system test must be carried out before replacing any parts, to confirm the injector is the actual cause of the fault. Rail pressure testing, a leak-off (back-leak) test on all six injectors, live injector correction values read from the ECU and diagnostic trouble code analysis will identify the affected cylinder and rule out the high-pressure pump, the rail pressure sensor, the rail pressure regulating valve and the low-pressure fuel supply.

Installation and System Check

Before fitting, inspect the injector bore in the cylinder head and remove any carbon deposits, fit the supplied nozzle sealing washer and return O-ring, tighten the injector clamp to the BMW-specified torque, and write the injector IMA code into the ECU against the correct cylinder before starting the engine. Renew the fuel filter at the same time.

If the CP4 high-pressure pump on this engine has failed and released metallic debris (swarf), the injectors that were on the engine at that moment are almost always contaminated and must be replaced rather than cleaned. The complete fuel system must be inspected and decontaminated from the fuel tank through to the injectors inclusive before new injectors are fitted, and any component that cannot be reliably and completely cleaned must be replaced.
